Eccleston is a village in the borough of Chorley, situated beside the River Yarrow, with a population of nearly 5,000.

Historically, Eccleston combined an agricultural heritage, with several orchards providing fruit for the local community, and a bakery, amongst others.

Eccleston village centre hosts pubs, bars a gin bar, a restaurant and a coffee shop.  The Carrington Centre has a Sainsbury's, Greenhalghs, pharmacy, local library, post office and optometrist. The Cottage Loaf, sells homemade pies, loaves, cakes along with bacon butties and other freshly made sandwiches. The village centre is also home to barbers, beauticians, chiropractors, dog groomers, boutiques and clothes shops, designer kitchen and bathroom stores. A WI and the Eccleston Institute.   There is also a village chip shop and a Chinese takeaway. The fresh fish van comes to the village every Thursday. It really is a bustling village with community spirit.

There are several children's playgrounds within the village along with a skate park. The village has a vibrant sports scene with a cricket club and football club.  The village has lots of places to take a leisurely stroll, Bluebell Woods being one of them.

Eccleston has two primary schools, Eccleston County Primary with a ‘good’ Ofsted rating.

What do you really love about Eccleston?

Eccleston has a lovely feel and there is virtually everything on your doorstep.  There are amazing walks you can go on which is ideal if, like me, you have a dog.

What are your favourite streets and why?

My favourite street would have to be the one where I live! I love the views from my house over the meadow where I go walking and all the neighbours are lovely. We all look out for each other.

What is your favourite pub or restaurant in the area and why?

I have always been a big fan of Verde's. The food is always excellent handy...probably too much so at times! Its great in the summer when you can sit by the duck pond with an ice cream watching the world go by!

Where is the best place to go for a walk in the area?

I love walking my dog and lovely on a warm summers day too.

Do you have a favourite shop?

I have a few favourite shops!  The bag boutique is a favourite of mine, there's a lovely range of clothing, jewellery, and decorations.

Why should someone move to Eccleston?

I have lived in Eccleston now for three years.  It is a great village to bring up a family, my daughter and a bus route that takes you straight to Bishop Rawstorne High School, which is great.

As I stated previously, the amenities are fabulous too with a supermarket, chemist, and beauty salon for when a bit of pampering is called for!  In fact, you wouldn't have to leave the village if you didn't want, as everything is virtually within walking distance.
